Covid Restriction Update:

Throughout the pandemic we have strived to make the surgery as safe as possible for all our patients and staff. We will continue to do so going forward.

From the 19th July nothing will change at the surgery - patients will need to still wear a mask, socially distance and use hand sanitiser in the surgery and staff will continue to wear PPE. We do understand that it can be frustrating but we know that when people come to us they are sick and vulnerable (and some cannot receive the covid vaccinations due to medical reasons) so we feel it would be wrong to not take these small precautions that can protect people.

In terms of opening up, as many of you know, we have never been shut and in fact have consulted with much higher numbers of patients than we did pre covid (face to face, by phone, by e consult and by video), not counting vaccinating 90% of the adult population twice in the last 6 months.

The Oldham Community has come so far in trying to minimise the impact of Covid and we are sure you understand that we need to keep the surgery as safe for ALL patients as we can.

NHS data sharing

NHS Digital has been collecting anonymised data from GP practices for research purposes for years. On 1 July a new, daily, data collection process will begin. You can find out more about this on the NHS Digital website. You may not want your identifiable patient data to be shared for purposes except for your own care.  If this is the case, you can opt out by registering a Type 1 Opt-out.

If you do not want your data to be shared with NHS Digital please register your Type 1 Opt-out with the surgery by 23 June 2021.

The data held in your GP medical records is shared with other healthcare professionals for the purposes of your individual care. It is also shared with other organisations to support health and care planning and research.

You can register a Type 1 Opt-out, for yourself or for a dependent (if you are the parent or legal guardian of the patient), by downloading the form from the link below. Forms should be returned to the surgery before the deadline of June 23rd 2021.

Your Good Health

Access to a wide range of healthcare services is a key element of a good local practice. We don’t just want to see you when you’re ill we want to make sure you stay healthy too. Check out how we can cover both bases with our clinics and services.

Best Practice

Our professional team will ensure you receive the best attention at all times whether you’re attending a specialist clinic or a routine appointment. If you’re new to the area registration is easy and comes with the comfort of discretion and confidentiality assured.

Named Accountable GP

All patients are allocated a named, accountable GP. The named accountable GP takes responsibility for the co-ordination of all appropriate services and ensures they are delivered where required (based on the named GP's clinical judgement) but does not take on vicarious responsibility for the work of other doctors or health professionals.

If you wish to be told the name of your accountable GP, please ask the receptionist when you are next in the surgery. To keep the lines free for patients needing treatment, kindly do not telephone the practice to ask for this information only.

Having a named GP does not prevent you from seeing any other doctor in the practice, nor does it mean that you will always see your named GP, who will not be available at all times. Patients are entitled to choose to see any GP or nurse in the practice but if your needs are urgent, you may need to discuss them with an alternative doctor or nurse.
